Kevin L’Espérance, new student representative on the scientific committee

On October 18th, Kevin L’Espérance, a doctoral student in the Innovation Hub research theme, was appointed student representative for a three-year term on the CHUM Research Centre’s (CRCHUM) Scientific Committee.

Doctoral candidate in public health and epidemiology at Université de Montréal’s School of Public Health (department of social and preventive medicine), Kevin L’Espérance is working with researchers Anita Koushik (research director) and Jennifer O’Loughlin (co-director).

The Research Centre’s management team would like to offer him heartfelt congratulations.

He will attend monthly meetings of the committee along with Sabri Ahmed Rial, a postdoctoral fellow in the Cardiometabolic research theme (Gareth E. Lim’s laboratory), who was appointed postdoctoral fellow representative in March 2021.

Together, they will work alongside the director of research, the associate scientific directors, the research theme directors and two patient partners. By speaking on behalf of the student and postdoctoral fellow community, Kevin L’Espérance and Sabri Ahmed Rial will be actively contributing to the CRCHUM’s development.

An active student committee 

In addition to their participation in the Scientific Committee, the two representatives will co-chair the student committee and, along with all its members, will help develop activities. Nathalie Grandvaux, associate scientific director, student and postdoctoral affairs, will also lend her collaboration.

An enriching and dynamic training environment known worldwide, the CRCHUM hosts nearly 650 students and postdoctoral fellows every year, nearly 30% of whom are from outside Canada.
