Welcome to the Forefront of Research

The Research Centre of the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CRCHUM) is entering a pivotal stage in its development. Located in the heart of the city where historic and contemporary Montreal meet, our centre continues to grow while asserting, more than ever, an ambitious and leading role within the ecosystem of basic and clinical health research in Quebec and beyond.

My vision for the CRCHUM is built on three principles: encouraging creativity and daring; creating the conditions that welcome and support excellence in research, training and innovation; and acting pragmatically to make this all possible. I aim to offer our researchers, professionals, students and postdoctoral fellows an environment where initiative is valued, ideas flow freely and each person has the space needed to express and develop their talent. Excellence is never guaranteed: it is achieved through sustained effort, a strong collective spirit and a shared responsibility between individuals and their institution.

We must act with clarity and efficiency in a context where publicly funded research faces significant socioeconomic pressures. This is why our collaboration with the Fondation du CHUM and with a growing network of academic and industrial partners is so essential. It reflects a profound confidence in the scientific approach on an international scale and a concrete commitment to all forms of innovation—biomedical, technological or organizational—in the service of human health.

The CRCHUM is a place where knowledge advances daily, where tomorrow’s practices take shape and where innovative solutions emerge to sustainably improve the health of all. It is a privilege to carry this mission forward, together with our entire community.
