Integration of genome and transcriptome sequencing in clinical cancer care
Dr. Janessa Laskin will provide an overview of her decade of experience from the BC-wide prospective clinical trial that integrates whole genome, transcriptome and germline sequencing into clinical care for patients with a diverse range of cancer types.
Dr. Laskin will focus on challenges and opportunities for this program and how her experience may help other groups launch similar programs.
There will be discussion on the importance of genomics data sharing and how the Marathon of Hope Cancer Centre Network can help researchers and clinicians learn and improve cancer care.

About the speaker
Dr. Laskin is a clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia and an active member of the medical oncology staff at BC Cancer Agency in Vancouver, Canada. Her clinical and research interests have primarily focused on lung cancers and in the last decade her research has evolved towards cancer genomics and personalized medicine. Dr. Laskin is the clinical program leader for the Personalized Oncogenomics (POG) Program which is a collaborative research project between medical oncologists and the Michael Smith Genome Sciences Centre. The POG program is a translational research effort that uses in-depth genomic and transcriptomic sequencing to guide chemotherapy decision-making in a clinically relevant time-frame. POG has been a major contributor to the Terry Fox Marathon of Hope Cancer Centre Network and Dr. Laskin has been deeply committed and involved in this program.
