Prof. Knight leads the Side by Side Lab, a research program focused on improving the health and well-being of communities who face health inequities. Our research centers on youth, people who use drugs, 2S/LGBTQIA+ individuals, and those experiencing homelessness.

Side by Side works collaboratively with these communities to develop strategies that address health challenges both within and beyond the health sector, including public health, healthcare delivery systems, and areas like drug and housing policy.

Our research spans three core areas: sexual health, mental health, and substance use.

Based at the CRCHUM, Side by Side is a community-based program of research involving qualitative and mixed-methods approaches.
