Canada Research Chairs: One award and one renewal for two researchers at CRCHUM
Guy Rutter amd Hugo Bouchard
As part of the Canada Research Chairs 2026 competition, Guy Rutter, a researcher in the Cardiometabolic research theme, has been awarded a Canada Research Chair in Diabetes and Pancreatic Beta Cell Biology (Tier 1) by the Governement of Canada. Hugo Bouchard, a researcher in the Imaging and engineering research theme, has had his Canada Research Chair in Emerging Applications of Spectral Computed Tomography (Tier 2) renewed.
Funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, these chairs recognize research excellence in Canadian universities.
Tier 1 Chairs are awarded to outstanding researchers recognized by their peers, and are renewable once only after seven years. Tier 2 Chairs, which are awarded for five years and renewable once, are designed to support new researchers and kick-start their careers.
The management of the CHUM Research Centre extends its most sincere congratulations.
