Cancer  Axis

The Cancer Axis is situated on the 10th floor of the CRCHUM, wherein multiple collaborative projects take place amongst teams focusing on different cancer types and innovative approaches.

 

Job description

Under the supervision of Dr. Saima Hassan, the MSc student will work in her translational research laboratory in breast cancer. The project will involve the use of PARP inhibitors in combination. The student will work with other members of the lab and experiments will include cell culture, chemosensitivity assays, high-content imaging, western blots, flow cytometry, cell migration, ELISAs and mice experiments. Responsabilities

This person will be responsible for:

  • Skills in cell culture, chemosensitivity assays, high-content imaging, western blots, flow cytometry, cell migration, ELISAs and mice experiments.
  • Data analysis and project management
  • Writing abstracts, posters/presentations for conferences, and manuscripts in English
  • Will apply for bursary fellowships
  • Collaborative and respectful of lab members, dynamic, efficient, honest and professional
  • Flexible, concerned about getting the job well done, independent, attentive to detail, very organized

 

Qualifications

  • Should have some knowledge of molecular biology techniques
  • Should have background in cancer research
  • Ideal candidates will be competitive for FRQS/CIHR bursary applications
  • Good knowledge of French and English

 

What we offer

  • Full-time student
  • Willing to start as soon as possible, or at the latest by June 2024
  • Will need to be registered with a MSc program at Université de Montréal, i.e. sciences biomédicales or biologie moléculaire, in which a memoir will be submitted at end.
  • Salary according to CRCHUM policies
