As part of the Spring 2021 Project Grant competition launched by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), 8 research teams from the CHUM Research Centre (CRCHUM) were awarded more than $5.5 million in grants. The management of the CRCHUM would like to congratulate them warmly.

Joint project with Elizabeth Rideout (University of British Columbia) - Petronela Ancuta — Research theme: Immunopathology/Project Grant awarded for four years ($887,400) The Th17 Master Regulator RORC2 as a New Target for HIV Immune Therapy and Cure Strategy
- Emmanuelle Brochiero — Research theme: Immunopathology/Project Grant awarded for five years ($837,676) Development of innovative therapeutic strategies in cystic fibrosis for improvement of CFTR-targeted treatments and restoration of airway epithelial integrity in infected lungs from patients harbouring various mutations
- Andrés Finzi et Dr. Daniel E. Kaufmann — Research theme: Immunopathology/Project Grant awarded for five years ($956,250) Immunovirological determinants of breakthrough COVID-19 disease in vaccinated or previously infected individuals
- Dr. Catherine Larochelle — Research theme: Neuroscience/Project Grant awarded for five years ($864,450) Manipulating methionine metabolism to shape immune responses and modify disease progression in both sexes in MS
- Sophie Petropoulos — Research theme: Immunopathology/Project Grant awarded for five years ($677,026) Elucidating the roles of miRNAs and Hippo signalling on lineage specification in the human and mouse embryo
- Nadia Sourial — Research theme: Innovation hub/Project Grant awarded for three years ($424,576) Heterogeneity of interprofessional primary care teams and its effect on quality of care and health service use in older adults
In total, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research is funding 416 researchers for an investment of $325 million.
