About the speaker
Sherilee L. Harper, PhD
Professor and Canada Research Chair in Climate Change and Health in the School of Public Health at the University of Alberta
Vice chair, United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPPCC)
Sherilee L. Harper is a Professor and Canada Research Chair in Climate Change and Health in the School of Public Health at the University of Alberta. Her research investigates associations between weather, environment and public health in the context of climate change, and she collaborates with partners across sectors to prioritize climate-related health actions, planning, interventions and research. She was a lead author on two of the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports and served on the Gender Task Group for the IPCC. She co-chaired the Health and Wellbeing Advisory Table for the Government of Canada's National Adaptation Strategy and was a coordinating lead author on Health Canada's latest Climate Change and Health Assessment. She is currently a vice chair for the IPCC (WGI).
