Technology Transfer

Technology transfer is a team effort involving the Research Centre, inventors, Université de Montréal and the technology transfer organization Axelys. It consists of transferring the results of university research (including knowledge and know-how) to an external partner in order to commercialize new products and services or ensure their permanence.

Different types of agreements exist:

  • Confidentiality agreement: establishes the terms and conditions under which a person can disclose confidential information to a third party;
  • Material transfer agreement: constitutes the terms and conditions under which material can be transferred from one person to another;
  • Licence agreement: allows the holder of the agreement (the licensee) to use the intellectual property of its owner (the licensor) for commercialization. Licences allow the owner or holder to receive financial consideration following the assignment of rights.
