Research Interests

The research interests are focused on the question of diabetes heterogeneity; particularly, the atypical phenotypes that span a spectrum between the classic presentations of type 1 and type 2 diabetes. These may include adult-onset autoimmune diabetes or sometimes undiagnosed cases of monogenic or rare types of diabetes. We aim:


  1. to better classify these subtypes of diabetes and to improve strategies to detect rare forms; 
  2. to understand respective risks of developing acute and chronic complications; 
  3. to explore personalized clinical care strategies and preserve beta cells function for as long as possible.
