Research Interests

Dr Desmarais has acquired clinical expertise in the field of cognitive neurology, more specifically in non-Alzheimer neurocognitive disorders such as frontotemporal lobar degeneration and alpha-synucleiopathies. He is particularly interested in neuropsychiatric and behavioural manifestations of neurodegenerative disorders as well as their pharmacological treatments.

Dr. Desmarais' research endeavours explore the clinico-radiological and clinico-pathological neural correlates between neuropsychiatric manifestations and white matter changes on brain MRI in frontotemporal lobar degeneration.

Current research projects:

  • Clinico-radiological and clinico-pathological correlations of white matter hyperintensities on T2-weighted imaging with neuropsychiatric manifestations in frontotemporal lobar degeneration.
  • Study on the association of post-traumatic stress disorder with neurodegenerative disorders.
  • Assessment of quality of care based on patient-centred outcomes in cognitive neurology.

Health innovation and evaluation hub

This research theme was born out of the desire to make the CHUM a learning, teaching and communicating hospital and to help achieve sustainable development goals related to individual and population health issues. Research at the HUB is therefore multidisciplinary and cross-cutting. Teams con…
