Cellular imaging

The CHUM Research Centre cell imaging laboratory offers an array of equipment and comprehensive services:

  • state-of-the-art microscopes and equipment
  • microscopy and analysis services
  • microscopy training
  • support in planning and carrying out experiments.

The laboratory devotes a great deal of effort to the inspection and maintenance of the performance of its equipment, to the support provided to users and to the development of digital image analysis techniques.

Our services are available to researchers from universities, hospitals and for projects in partnership with the industry.

  • Inverted Microscope - Biosafety Level 3 (Zeiss, AxioObserver Z1 Spinnig disk/TIRF)

  • Inverted Multi-Photon Confocal Microscope (Leica Microsystems, TCS SP5 MP)
  • Inverted Fluorescence Microscope  (Olympus, 1X71)
  • Widefield Microscope ( Leica Microsystems, DM4000B)
  • Image Analysis Workstation (Imaris 7.5.2 et ImagePro)


  • Use of microscopes in self-service mode, after training (exception: the Olympus FV1000MPE confocal microscope must be used by core facility staff)

  • Tailor-made consultation and technical assistance for sample preparation, selection of the appropriate imaging technique, image acquisition and analysis
